Protecting the Career You Worked So Hard to Build.
Protecting the Career You Worked For - Behind the Badge
What good is a better paycheque if you aren't healthy enough to enjoy it, or if your career ends before you can earn a full pension? I'm running to fix the systems that are failing our members.
Why I'm Running
Every election, candidates promise a better Collective Bargaining Agreement and competitive pay raises. I support those priorities. Like you, I want our compensation to reflect the risks we take every day. But we must also ask: What good is a better paycheque if you aren't healthy enough to enjoy it, or if your career ends before you can earn a full pension?
Negotiating the next contract is vital, but protecting the career you have worked so hard to build is just as important. That is why I am seeking your support for election to the National Police Federation Board of Directors. I am running on a track record of operational experience and specialized expertise in the systems that are currently failing our members.
I have the operational background to understand your work and the specialized expertise to fix the systems that support you. I am asking for your support and your vote to protect the careers of those who protect Canada.
"Members deserve competitive pay and a strong CBA. But most importantly, members deserve the opportunity to finish the career they worked so hard to build.
A Career Built on the Frontlines
My perspective is grounded in the reality of our work. Throughout my RCMP career, I have served in nearly every capacity: frontline policing, isolated northern communities, Federal Policing, and major investigations. I understand the physical and mental toll this job takes, and I know that when the system fails, it's the member on the ground who pays the price.
Northern & Remote Postings
Five years in the Northwest Territories — Inuvik, Deline, and twelve fly-in communities — often as Acting Detachment Commander. I know what it's like to work without backup in the North and the unique challenges faced by members in remote and underserved postings.
Federal Policing
Six years in Federal Policing leading major investigations and managing emergency deployments. This work sharpened my understanding of complex, high-stakes operational environments and the pressure of high-stakes federal files.
Duty to Accommodate
Currently NCO i/c Career Development Resource Advisor for the Duty to Accommodate Unit in E and M Divisions. Every day I work with members facing serious injuries, chronic illness, medical employment limitations, and the prospect of medical retirement.
Committed to the NPF from the Start
I have believed in independent member representation from the beginning. Before the NPF existed, I supported the court challenge that secured our right to unionize. I was member number 111, joining immediately upon its creation. I have served as a Local Area Representative and an AGM Delegate because I believe our strength lies in our unity. During the Surrey police transition, I designed the accommodation placement pathway for affected members — proof that proactive advocacy delivers real outcomes.
If Elected, My Focus Will Be:
- —
National Standards for Disability Management: Establish a uniform, transparent framework for medical accommodation and return-to-work processes across all divisions — because you deserve consistency regardless of where you serve.
- —
Proactive Advocacy in Transitions: The NPF must be involved before major organizational changes occur, not after. I designed the accommodation placement pathway during the Surrey transition — that is the model.
- —
Resourcing Occupational Health: Advocate for the immediate recruitment and retention of Occupational Health staff to eliminate the backlogs that keep members in limbo and drive early medical retirements.
- —
Evidence-Based Leadership: A practical, data-driven approach to the Board ensuring our advocacy is grounded in the real-world needs of the membership — not politics.
- —
Unwavering Collective Bargaining: Fight for a contract that recognizes your value, improves your quality of life, and secures your financial future.
We cannot accept a system where a member's career depends on their postal code. Our policies are national — the application of disability management and accommodation must be too. I have the experience to make that happen.
Your Career. Your Future. Your Vote.
I have the operational background to understand your work and the specialized expertise to fix the systems that support you. Mark Sgt. Neal Machek as your NUMBER ONE choice for the NPF Board of Directors.
